I had assumed that I could just click the download facility in Iplayer within a web browser but it appears you still need the Iplayer desktop. Still interested in any fix for downloading with Iplayer though.įixed the download facility for Windows but I don't think the BBC provide the same for Linux. Been watching the BBC (XBMC, Not Filmon and no VPN) for the last 90 minutes and still going strong.
I have added a USB WiFi device and fingers crossed it looks like the laptop has stopped crashing. Any other ideas why online videos are crashing the machine? I guess I could try to disable on board WiFi and use a USB device. With WiFi on the local videos play ok but not when watching online videos. It is quite a modern Acer laptop and all I can think is the WiFi chip and video chip have some sort of conflict. We have changed the hard drive and a few other bits but can't get it to stop crashing. One reason for wanting to download the content is we have one laptop that crashes in less than 30 minutes when watching online content but will run for hours (days) when viewing videos local to the laptop. With VPN running I can't get it to work in Windows 8 or Linux. Quite poor compared with their previous version as it doesn't let you download a series etc. Topic: New BBC Iplayer Download Facility Posted By: StabiloĪround late September BBC added a new download facility to Iplayer.
